The Shift Lead would work hand in hand with the manager and discuss consistent opportunities and needs in operations.

Our Industry City outpost mainly caters to corporate customers on weekdays, and families on weekends. We take the caliber of our product very seriously and management cares deeply about making sure our staff is well-protected, and that safety protocols are set in place during these times. We try our best to ensure that our cafes are rewarding, fulfilling work environments where the staff takes care of each other and hold themselves to the highest standard.

Responsibilities include:
Customer Experience:
  • Ensure the cafe is a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our customers. Go above and beyond to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide effective service during operating hours to avoid bottlenecks of any kind at POS, espresso, or pastry station.
  • Ensure Square inventory is accurately updated consistently to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively about online ordering (same day or scheduled) and catering offerings especially surrounding holiday and specialty items.

Inventory and Ordering:
  • Responsible for completing milk and coffee orders at the appropriate time and date each week, as well as paper stock inventory orders.
  • Must communicate with manager for any extra ordering needs and to plan ahead for holidays, events, or slow periods to avoid gaps in weekly needs or excessive waste.

Food Safety Standards:
  • Ensure daily and weekly cleaning tasks are taking place as well as proper storage of service utensils/stock and FiFo of all perishable product.
  • Utilize down time effectively to complete any extra weekly cleaning/organizing tasks.
  • Communicate chemical inventory needs with manager.

Daily Operation Tasks:
  • Ensure opening and closing tasks are being completed appropriately and in a timely manner, breaks are effectively being taken without hindering customer experience, trash and recycling stored properly and being taken out at correct time and date (communicate with manager about holiday conflicts), and preparing weekly stock of cold brew and teas or backups to meet demand (especially preparing for weekend stock needs).

Training:
  • Lead by example; a specialty coffee-trained and experienced barista who wants to grow their coffee knowledge, loves starting regular orders as they walk through the door, and is utterly unflappable in high-volume rushes. The staff should look to you for direction and support.
  • Uphold quality control of all food and beverage that is served to our guests.
  • Communicate with the team to ensure knowledge and allergen info of all new and core offerings are understood.
  • Coach effectively in the moment without disrupting service on any quality control opportunities. If consistent gaps are not being improved, meet with manager to discuss next steps.

Details:
  • $20-$22/hr base wage, plus tips (average tips are $9+/hour) for hours worked on bar.
  • Base pay increase after a positive performance review in 3 months.
  • Weekends a must.

We'd love to find the next folks who will be part of our team for the foreseeable future.
